Pyithu Swan Arr Shin: "People's Voluntary Force", junta-authorized thugs who patrol the countryside generally stopping and looting travellers. Similar to the Chinese Red Guard (Hóng Wèi Bīng).
Kyant Khaing Yay and Phoont Phyoh Yay Athin: "Union of Solidarity and Development Association", the actual junta party, but more often just more thugs. Called "Kyant Phoont" by locals.
The nine departments that must be immediately notified upon the arrival of a foreigner near the delta: Township Land Police, Township Water Police, District Land Police, District Water Police, Immigration Department, Local Peace and Development Council, District Peace and Development Council, Military, Military Intelligence (Larkin p.71)
