PL Church is a splinter of 徳光教（１９１２） which currently has only 600 followers.

The church was founded as 御嶽教（１８８２）.

The church that split from it was called 人道徳光教 （１９１８）, which renamed itself to ひとのみち（１９３０） and finally ＰＬ教団（１９４６）.
