Commonwealth School is a high school in Boston, Massachusetts. I didn't get as much out of this place as I ought to have.
Unfortunately, it started going downhill as soon as I left.
The best teachers at Commonwealth in recent years have been:
- Mr. Young, a philosophy teacher who got fired for disagreeing with the headmaster. I never had the pleasure of a class with him.
- Mr. Davis and Ms. Siporin, who are married, and both English teachers. I didn't realize the joy of English literature until I took classes with them.
- Mr. Riahi, a physics and math teacher who grew up in Iran and moved first to Germany then to the United States. His command of English was poor in a way that made everyone love him. He told us great stories about his life, and although I didn't learn any physics from him, I loved the linear algebra class I took and it stuck with me, sorta.
